The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), its project partners and the Ostend branch of ILVO (Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Research) on the Oosteroever in Ostend will have a new joint complex next to a dune landscape under the name InnovOcean Campus. The complex will house offices, a conference centre, a library, a workshop, physicochemical laboratories and laboratories for aquaculture.
Corrosion from all sides
The realisation will be extremely fascinating: part of the project area is landscape protected, and there are underground high-voltage lines. The wet labs with seawater for conducting sea experiments in controlled conditions will also require technically advanced solutions. Rosenberg’s durable plastic air handling units were chosen because of the corrosion immunity of the units. Sustainability is an important theme for InnovOcean, and low-maintenance materials contribute to that.
The two inlet/outlet units for the wet labs and the standard labs comply with the ErP2018 thanks to high-efficiency epoxy-coated crossflow heat exchangers. The coated EC fans provide a total air displacement of almost 25,000 m³/h.
