SCHOOL VENTILATION ESSENTIAL FOR EDUCATION
A good indoor climate in schools is important to create a healthy and safe environment. The consultant or designing installer draws up the plan and technical specifications. It is often not easy to translate your objectives into technical requirements. What is good ventilation, and what is good enough? To help you translate your wishes into your requirements, there is the Program of Requirements Fresh Schools.
FROM SAFE WISHES TO SAFE REQUIREMENTS
The Program of Requirements Fresh Schools allows you to choose class A, B or C for each one of five themes. Class A is the highest level and class C roughly corresponds to the legal requirements of the Building Decree. The themes are: Energy, Air Quality, Thermal Comfort, Light and Sound. The PVE Frisse Scholen 2015 is available as a document (available for download in Dutch). We advise you to opt for Class A regarding the Air Quality and Thermal Comfort themes. The hygiene of our completely smooth composite air handling units ensures you can enjoy filtered fresh outdoor air.
SCHOOL VENTILATION ACCORDING TO THE LCVS
The National Coordination Team for Ventilation at Schools has translated the building decree requirements (which are often difficult to determine) into two simpler criteria for existing and new-build schools. The criterion for existing buildings (up to 2012) assumes an air exchange rate of 6 dm3/s/person, which corresponds to 1200 ppm CO2. The 2012 Building Decree applies to new construction with a permit issued from April 2012. The simpler criterion for new buildings assumes an air exchange rate of 8.5 dm³/s/person, which corresponds to 950 ppm CO2. Our integrated arrangements easily take care of that.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Once the requirements for a safe indoor climate have been established, it is important to realise them with a sustainable design and the lowest possible energy consumption. The consultant or designing installer can design a sustainable installation that helps set independent quality requirements for the installation components. These quality requirements are laid down in the “Design and Realization” guidelines of Indoor Climate Netherlands. See our Direct Quotation Tool for a quick estimate of your air handling unit.
Good ventilation has been proven to be an effective way to remove a contagious aerogenic virus. Research from the University of Amsterdam | UVA was published in The Lancet and demonstrates this, showing that good ventilation can halve the amount of aerogenic virus in just 30 seconds. Without ventilation, the virus can float around for hours. For safe ventilation, it is necessary to not only follow the guidelines of the LCVS and the RIVM, but to supplement them with extra ventilation.
Rosenberg Climate Technology’s air handling systems can ventilate, filter, heat and cool fully automatically. The Priva controller communicates with the CO2 sensors in the classrooms and continuously adjusts the ventilation air volume. In addition, the Priva controller can effortlessly communicate with the boiler, heat pump or even the building management system. The systems are accessible via Web access and can be operated via a touch screen controller.
The high weight of an air handling unit can be an obstacle when determining the right location. This is often a problem, especially in the replacement market or in monumental buildings. Liberty air handling units are up to 40% lower in weight compared to metal units. It is sometimes impossible to install air handling units in an installation room in existing buildings without demolition and breaking work. The Liberty air handling units are supplied assembled as standard, but can also be supplied in parts. This means the smallest passageway is always large enough to get the components into the installation room. Our skilled assembly team builds the casing on site and thus guarantees optimal operation.
We work with the OPEN Foundation. In full: Organisation for Producer Responsibility for E-waste Netherlands (OPEN). And we are responsible for the collection and recycling of e-waste on behalf of all producers and importers of electrical appliances in the Netherlands from 1 March 2021. Our goal is to achieve the statutory collection target of 65% and to make e-waste circular. |
